external drive dual boot

Can anyone tell me if I can dual boot windows XP and Linux SuSe pro,
I want to load Linux on a external USB hard drive ( 160 Gb ) and boot via disk, I have 5 Cds........can it be done.........how ?

Depends on your BIOS first - can it it boot from USB and can you make the USB device first in the boot order?
