external hard drive and dual boot
I have a few questions wrapped into one issue here. First, I have a gateway laptop running winxp and I want to be able to dual boot with mandrake 9.0. However, my hard drive space is tiny (20 gb with only 10 available). So by the time I partition for both os's, I'm left with very little free space.
My questions are these: if I dual boot with mandrake and windows, can I use a usb external hard drive with both os's? If so, will I need to partition the external as well? Finally, if this is possible, what would some of you recommend as a good external hard drive? I've been looking at western digital but it says it's only compatible with windows. Thanks in advance for the help.
