I am looking for someone with experience in vmware under linux, what do I need and how to set up a virtual machine...
Is the vmware server, the only software tool I need for that?
You will need vmware server and a cd-rom or ISO of the OS that you want to be the guest. From there, you can use the GUI to install the guest OS using it's normal install procedure, inside the virtual system.
You'll need your kernel source as well, but that's about it.
I have the free version running on both Debian and Fedora Core 5(I did need a workaround with its default kernel though). http://www.vmware.com/download/player/
