error while try to install htop-0.8


hi im try to install the htop-0.8.tar.gz i unpacke it and i try to run

./configure and i got this error in centos 5

[root@Elena htop-0.8]# ./configure

do i need to install gcc packege if so

whice one i did yum searc to gcc and got alot of options

What is the output of

yum list gcc
? Unless the software you are compiling is very old, you can select the latest version of gcc and let yum take care of all the dependencies.

Also, have you checked for binary packages available for your distribution? There are Red Hat packages at the DAG repository. You need to compile only if you want the latest version.

i install by your advice this list gcc

and after it i try to install again and got this error

Here comes some missing dependency. The header file curses.h is provided by the ncurses-devel package:

should resolve this dependency... until the next one...
