Edit asound.conf: Input device is different than output device

I have a TV tuner card that I would like to use as the default sound input device on my system. pactl list sources finds the card and reports that it is running, yet there is no input activity in pauvcontrol. Could someone please tell me how I should edit my asound.conf file to set the default input to the TV tuner and the default output to the system's default output (HDMI)? All of the methods I've researched don't explain how to do this when the input device is not the same as the output device. Thank you for your help!

Wink

Please provide:
uname -a
lsb_release -a
lspci
dmesg | grep audio
aplay -l

Use a terminal and type:
alsamixer

Make sure using F6 that you have the right audio card choose. Play around with volumes, unmute others, etc

What you want to verify is defaut.pa or default.pa (don't remember how it is spelled) inside /etc.

You may have to add/uncomment a few "sinks" according to your input.

You shouldn't have to use around.conf unless a very special setup.
