Eclipse Problem - Java or perm related

Im having a problem running Eclipse on Kubuntu
I installed Eclipse as root and I can run it as root just fine. When I try to run as a user I get told to check a log (/usr/local/eclipse/configuration/some #.log) below is the shortened output

!SESSION 2006-05-02 19:18:07.566 -----------------------------------------------
eclipse.buildId=M20060118-1600
java.version=1.4.2-02
java.vendor=Blackdown Java-Linux Team
BootLoader constants: OS=linux, ARCH=x86, WS=gtk, NL=en_US
Command-line arguments: -os linux -ws gtk -arch x86

!ENTRY org.eclipse.osgi 2006-05-02 19:18:08.875
!MESSAGE Error reading configuration: Permission denied
!STACK 0
java.io.IOException: Permission denied
at java.io.UnixFileSystem.createFileExclusively(Native Method)
at java.io.File.checkAndCreate(File.java:1314)
at java.io.File.createTempFile(File.java:1402)
at org.eclipse.core.runtime.adaptor.FileManager.initializeInstanceFile(F
ileManager.java:143)
at org.eclipse.core.runtime.adaptor.FileManager.open(FileManager.java:66
4)

I then play with the permissions on .fileTableLock to maybe get a better clue

I got it, I uninstalled the java sdk I got from adept (Blackdown?) and installed the 1.5 jdk from the Sun website, reinstalled eclipse, and everything is good, thanks
