Angry Dvd-Rom Problem... Thinks it is software problem

I have been trying all night to get my computer to read a dvd disk. IT WON'T WORK!!!! I have installed libdvdcss and libdvdread. Under the system properites, I on it, it states that I is a Toshiba Odd-DVD SD-R5272, which is what I got. But when it says what type of drive it is, it says it is a Cd-Rom. Could someone please help me figure out how ot get it to recognise that it is a Dvd-Rom. It would be greatly appreciated...
