Desktop Environments

On startup, the Cinnamon button offers three (3) desktop environments:

Cinnamon (default)
Cinnamon (software rendering)
Cinnamon Wayland (experimental)

Which option should be checked?

Thanks, good people!

If it were me, I'd go with the default...

If choosing 1 seems glitchy, try 2. If you're adventurous, choose 3.

Choose default, if you run into video problems, choose software.

One of the most-fun things about Linux is that there are many "desktop environments" to choose from. Over these many years, I've used (or, encountered) quite a few. If your requirements are simple – as they often are – simply choose the easiest one. You can always switch to another version (with more "fee-churs" ...) later. (Just be sure they come with some flavor of "Minesweeper" and "Solitaire.")
