Hello, I have a linux box (Debian with kernel 2.6.21-486) wichi cannot format FAT32 a parition it doesnt recognize the mkfs.vfat command... and I cant install the dosfstools_2.11-2.3_i386.deb because a problem with a lib6 this is the error:
Code:
nas2:/home/Bodega/300GB# dpkg -i dosfstools_2.11-2.3_i386.deb
Selecting previously deselected package dosfstools.
(Reading database ... 47072 files and directories currently installed.)
Unpacking dosfstools (from dosfstools_2.11-2.3_i386.deb) ...
dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of dosfstools:
 dosfstools depends on libc6 (>= 2.6.1-1); however:
  Version of libc6 on system is 2.3.6.ds1-13.
dpkg: error processing dosfstools (--install):
 dependency problems - leaving unconfigured
Errors were encountered while processing:

Is there any reason you aren't installing it from the repositories (i.e. aptitude install dosfstools)?

Are you running mixed repositories or something? When I look on the debian packages website for Etch, dosfstools only depends on libc6 >=2.3.6-6...

Do you have internet access? If so, just run aptitude update and then aptitude install dosfstools. It will handle the dependencies for you (including libc6).

tzdata is actually just a time zone data update.

Can you post the output of cat /etc/apt/sources.list into this forum?
