Trying to format fat32

I want to format a partition fat32 and I don't care if Windows can read it. I tried the "mkdosfs" command but it doesn't work for me:

[royeo@localhost ~]$ su
Password:
[root@localhost royeo]# mkdosfs -c -F 32 -v /dev/sda2
bash: mkdosfs: command not found
[root@localhost royeo]# mkdosfs -c -F32 -v /dev/sda2
\bash: mkdosfs: command not found
[root@localhost royeo]#

I have no idea why it isn't working. "mkdosfs" is in /sbin.

If anybody has knowledge that would help me I'd sure appreciate it.

Thanks,

royeo

Perhaps /sbin isn't in your $PATH? Have you tried "/sbin/mkdosfs ..."?

Re : Trying to format fat32

Hi
Please try the same command by prefixing "./" to it.

for example try
>./mkdosfs -c -F 32 -v /dev/sda2

Su to root by running "su -" instead. This will start a log in shell which will run root's .profile script. Then root's $PATH variable will be setup.
