Debian 8 Wayland Gnome3
Hello all, first post yes, I've read the introduction it gave to me upon clicking on Post Thread. I will introduce myself in the appropriate category but since time is very short, I have a
AMD64 Dual Core Stock HPDC5750 SFF. I've added ram, my Distro, which is Debian 8 Jessie, is well configured with my ATI X1150 and is working with the linux-nonfree-firmware. I would make it work otherwise but I haven't gotten around to get to know xorg and fglrx yet.
And I port software, some paradox right? Ok so, I installed this distro fresh from a CD iso back when Debian came out, I had installed all of the third party software and libraries at the start of the installation. Since then, I have installed new libraries which do all of the compiling, sdl, players and etc. I now recently wanted to make a change and use Gnome3 + Wayland since it has impressed me with Debian Stretch on my Xu3 which was Gnome3 + Wayland. I've installed all of the xwayland, weston, libwayland libraries. I now see it in the
logon screen and shows Gnome3 Wayland but when I click on it, it returns to the login screen. I can run the weston desktop environment but it is not configured for $DISPLAY and no app wants to work. How can I achieve this process? I'm aware of some changes in xorg but which where and what? I may have to simlink something too but what and where? ln -s ?????? If you need further info from me, I will answer the best I can.
