Rhythmbox
or
GTKpod

or
copy paste

without much information ??????

what is this "mp3 player"
is it recognized by ubuntu as a music player or a mass storage devise

if it is a "wma" that is NOT a mp3 file but a Windows Media audio

it would likely need to be trans coded into a mp3
BUT
and this is a duzey
it is also very likely ILLEGAL to bypass and copy protection in your country

that is if there is any

mplayer should have no problems playing the wma file

Unhappy How to put County Library audio book on a mp3 player?

Thanks for you quick response. Perhaps I was not clear with my question.

The Maricopa County Library offers 14 day audio book downloads (www.mcldaz.org). This as you know is legal. The audio book is downloaded in chapters and is designed to be played on a computer or using windows media player or synced to a mp3 player. A mp3 player has been around for 10 or more years and plays audio tunes. The Mp3 player is loaded via a usb cable which the computer looks at it as a mass storage device. The library uses a software to download. The software is oneclickdigital.com.

1. When used with my name and password on a windows 7 based computer the downloaded zip file is extracted as a series of mp3 files.
2. When used with my name and password on a Linux 12.10 based computer the downloaded zip file is extracted as a series of wma files.

The ubuntu does not play wma files. It would appear that the ubuntu unzip file does not work properly.
The ubuntu tries to load the movie player with the wma file. This is the wrong ubuntu program.

Does any one have experience in solving this problem?

it looks like the WMA files are using a Microsoft ONLY DRM ( likely MS Silverlight based)

you would be out of luck even on a new Mac too.

but if Mplayer plays them using the 2011 all codec package
then you can listen to them

Thanks Guys,

After being told the oneclickdigital.com does not support Linux and a lot of research into the oneclickdigital.com software, I found a switch in the book advanced search that looked for protected and non-protected books.
If the unprotected switch was chosen the book downloaded as mp3
If the protected switch was chosen the book downloaded as wma.
Of course there is no documentation to support the switch. I call these undocumented features. lol
The books that were searched seemed to be the same series.

The good news is that the mp3 works. yea
