Convert MPEG2 into xvid

I tryed to search on freshmeat.net and here on the forum as well, but I couldn't find anything about it

Somebody knows what tool I have to use?
Cause I'm having problems on my windows PC with MPEG2 files, so I want to convert them to xvid (/divx) so I can play them on windows as well.

Trying to play a dvd? or things ripped from a dvd?... DVD::RIP is a nice program for making your own video files...

Other than that.. Mplayer has the option of being an encoder as well so if you go google it you'll be able to find what you need...

No, not trying to play a dvd
Yes, these files where ripped from a DVD (by another user, not me)

I can't use mplayer, cause my system isn't that slow to show video and sound together and fast :P

So what I want is, to convert the MPEG2 (DVD-Rip, .mpeg) into a XviD/DivX (.avi)

Transcode will do the trick. Check for gtranscode the GUI for it on freshmeat.
