Question compile error

Hi
I have a problem, hope someone can help me. I was trying to install
gaim-1.0.0.tar.bz2 and whenever I try to configure (./configure), I recieve the following error;

"checking whether build environment is sane... configure: error: newly created file is older than distributed files!Check your system clock"

Two days ago, I reinstalled my RedHat Linux 9 and in my previous installation,
gaim was running very well. Moreover, when I tried to install "rh9.ymessenger-1.0.4-1.i386.rpm", it get
installed without any error but when I gave command "ymessenger" to run it, it gives error;
"Segmentation Fault"
Also yahoo messenger was running very well in my previous installation. Also for your information, I never changed the clock setting of my system and the new installation of RedHat Linux 9 was without any error. The only thing which is different in my new installation is hard drive geometry i.e. previously my hard
drive structure was;

/dev/hda6 = /boot
/dev/hda7 = /
/dev/hda8 = swap

and my new hard drive structure is following;

/dev/hda6 = /boot
/dev/hda7 = swap
/dev/hda8 = /

I hope all these information can help you in detecting my problem.
Thanks.

I don't know, but you might try to open a terminal and issue "date"
which will give you the system date and time. It did say to check
your system clock, so give it a try...

As for an rpm file, my question was never "why didn't it work" but
rather "why did it work?"
