Alsa compile error, and a WINE error

Hey all how's it going I'm running Debian Woody (3.0r2) and I was/am having SB 5.1 issues, but that not what this post is about, except in a roundabout way.

I decided to download the alsa source code, and compile it, etc.... Well during compiling of the drivers/modules, I get an error that it is unable to compile something. I will post the exact message soon, just not in Linux right now. Has anyone had this issue before?

The other thing, (the reason I was trying to install alsa, at this time) is that when I try to compile the current WINE version I get a compile error, saying that it can't find some sort of alsa file. Ill post this too as soon as I can, but again anyone know about this or able to work around it?

Thanks all have a great one!
