There are three main desktop environments availible for Linux:
KDE, Gnome and XFce. (Not talking about window managers like E17)
From what I've read there is what is called CDE is widely used at UNIX workstations - and it is some kind of standard for UNIX desktop.
There is commercial version of CDE is availible for Linux...
The questions:
- Is there any open source or freeware CDE availible? To give it a try.
- What are the advantages of CDE over OS desktops?
- Is it really so "Common" Desktop Environment on UNIX platforms?
Thanks
