codecs for mplayer


i have installed "MPlayer 1.0pre2-3.3.2 (C) 2000-2003 MPlayer Team"
version it is playing *.mp3 very well but whle playing *.mpg file it no
audio is coming can any one tell me what are the codec i need to install
and where i can find them.

Here you can get the codecs:

http://www.mplayerhq.hu/homepage/design7/dload.html

"all in one package" will do just fine. Uncompress that package, then make a directory at:

/usr/local/lib/codecs

and move all of the uncompressed files there. It's very important to do this before compiling mplayer, otherwise the codecs won't be found by mplayer .
When done, recompile mplayer.
