MPlayer Codecs

When I try to play an .mpg file mpeg gives the following error:

"Can't find codec for audio format 0x75!"

So I looked in the manual and it said that this format comes standard with MPlayer.

VoxWare Metasound: (0x75)
! voxmsdec.ax: works

So I did a search for voxmsdec.ax on my machine and it didn't find it. Okay so I download the file and the instructions say install it into /usr/lib/win32. Well /usr/lib/win32 doesn't exist so I create the directory and add the file and it still doesn't work.

you'll need to recompile mplayer, and then it will auto detect the presence of the entire win32codec package. you should install the WHOLE package and not just that single file.

Crashed, I do believe Chris is referring to installing the entire win32 codecs package. It's located in the downloads section on www.mplayerhq.hu

After that, you might need to refresh your mplayer package, try just using the -Uvh option. However, I don't think you will need to, you can probably just start playing videos immediately, but then again, I am not too sure, give it a try
ftp://ftp.lug.udel.edu/MPlayer/relea...2codec.tar.bz2

There's the link, simply untar it:
tar xvjf w32codec.tar.bz2
And then move it into the directory you specified above.

Cool
