Cheese crashing suddenly

I am on Ubuntu Lucid (updated till date). I am using Kernel Linux 2.6.32-24-generic

Recently I am not being able to run Cheese (webcam tool). When run it is crashing. Upon starting it from prompt I noticed the following error :

----
libv4lconvert: Error decompressing JPEG: fill_nbits error: need 2 more bits
The program 'cheese' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)'.
(Details: serial 78 error_code 8 request_code 132 minor_code 19)
(Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)
---

I checked in Skype and there the webcam is working fine. I tried with Camorama but that always gives an error "Could not connect to /dev/video0, please check connections."

Need your help to fix this.
