Check printing on a Debian system

This is a Debian based system.
Do you know of any app that will help me print checks?
I am looking for a basic solution where:
a. I supply the name and amount.
b. It prints the name, amount and date on the (check) paper in the printer.

Thats all. It does not have to save the above data.

The only software that I am aware of that can print checks is accounting software like gnucash or kmymoney.
