CEdEgA..... new user

i got cedega 5.1 ....upon extracting it i get three folders

etc
opt
usr

and a txt file which says.............

Cedega 5.1.3 - Packed & Guide By OES
----------------------------------------

To install Cedega 5.1.3:

1. First extract cedega-5.1.tar.gz into the current directory.
2. In a root shell change directory to where you extracted the files.
3. cp etc/* /etc/
4. cp opt/* /opt/
5. cp usr/* /usr/
6. Now run 'cedega' as your normal user.
7. Follow instructions but do not try to update via the internet
just leave all the user info blank.
8. Once in the actual Cedega interface click TransGaming->Install Local Update
9. Pick the cedega-engine-5.1.3-local-update.i386.cpkg file.
10. Accept the licence agreement.
11. If there were no errors you should be back in the interface.
11b. If there are errors your download is corrupt or you have spaces in the path to the file (cedega does not like spaces when updating.)
12. Restart cedega (still as your normal user) and it should now work.

Enjoy!

i dont get it i ran those cp commands and the out put waz

waqas@Bluesun:~/cedega/files$ cp etc/* /etc/
cp: omitting directory `etc/X11'
waqas@Bluesun:~/cedega/files$ cp opt/* /opt/
cp: omitting directory `opt/kde3'
waqas@Bluesun:~/cedega/files$ cp usr/* /usr/
cp: omitting directory `usr/bin'
cp: omitting directory `usr/lib'
cp: omitting directory `usr/share'

You need to be root to do this, type:
Code:
su
at the command prompt, give it root's password, and try again. after step 5, type
Code:
exit
and continue on with the instructions as written.

try
Code:
cp -r original/* dest
that copies where original is the dir you want to copy, dest is where you want to copy it to. It looks like the command
Code:
cedega
should run it. Be sure that you are root when copying and normal user when running the program.

Did you try the -r switch? You need to be root to write to those directories, unless you've messed with the permissions.

As a normal user, you don't own the directories /etc, /usr or /opt. Those belong to root. You must be root to write to these directories.
