can't get java plugin to work for mozilla

First, I did everything the documentation tells me. I copied my libjavaplugin_oji.so file into my mozilla plugindirectory ~/mozilla/plugins/ Then i tried to open up a web page that uses java and mozilla crashes. I also tried putting it in my $HOME/.mozilla/plugins folder, same thing. I upgraded from 1.2.1 to 1.4, same problem. I tried make soft links to the plugin, same problem.

I am using RH 9, any help is appreciated greatly.

this is exactly what they tell you NOT to do. Create a symbolic link instead. Look here:

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention i tried this method as well. But running it from the command line i discovered this error...

Error occurred during initialization of VM
java/lang/NoClassDefFoundError: java/lang/Object
INTERNAL ERROR on Browser End: Could not read ack from child process
System error?:: Resource temporarily unavailable

I'm guessing it means it can't find my Object library in java, so i'm going to check to see that java is installed properly
