java plugin for Mozilla

Hi there,

two day I have tried to solve this newbie-problem, and actually there was already some discussion on it: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...readid=356159. But as a subject is a bit misleading I would like to start from a clean table.

I have downloaded a frpm file jre-1_5_0_04-linux-amd64-rpm.bin from internet but I've problems of installing it. Actually I've the problem with bin file itself, not with rpm file as after the command it gives the following error:

[root@localhost plugins]# ./jre-1_5_0_04-linux-amd64-rpm.bin
......
Do you agree to the above license terms? [yes or no]
yes
Unpacking...
Checksumming...

0
Extracting...
./jre-1_5_0_04-linux-amd64-rpm.bin: line 263: ./install.sfx.4882: cannot execute binary file

Done.
[root@localhost plugins]#

So where could be the problem.

I'm using Mozilla 1.7.6 and my OS is Fedora Core 2 / Redhat

Thank you

Yes I do... or better, the computer that I'm working on has. Unfortunately it is not private property of mine.

As satinet said, check if you really have a 64bit processor, this is not about speed since you said I have one or better is about the processor architecture, try running cat /proc/cpuinfo and check your processor
then if you really have a 64 bit processor you can use that package, otherwise you have the wrong one

Since the discussion is already taking place in another thread, I'm going to link to that one and close this one. I see your request for a title change, will see what I can do. In the future, please just continue with the discussion already in progress rather than start a new thread.

Thank You.
