Cannot start ASCEND with fedora 8 Import Error

Hello all :^)
I'm kinda new to this, but here is the problem. I installed ASCEND http://ascend.cheme.cmu.edu/
onto a fresh fedora 8 installation. Everything seems to have installed correctly but when I try and run the GUI i get this error:

Quote:
Restarting with corrected environment...
LD_LIBRARY_PATH = None
PYTHONPATH = /usr/share/ascend
ASCENDLIBRARY = None
Running with...
LD_LIBRARY_PATH = None
PYTHONPATH = /usr/share/ascend
argv = ['/usr/bin/ascend']
sys.path[0] = /usr/bin
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/bin/ascend", line 84, in <module>
import ascpy
File "/usr/share/ascend/ascpy.py", line 6, in <module>
import _ascpy
ImportError: libpython2.4.so.1.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
I installed the libpython2.4.so.1.0 (it was the 64 bit version, all i could find) and I think I have all the required dependencies. The Ascend Tlc/Tk will run from the terminal. I tried searching google to see if there where any problems similar to this but I could barely find a site even mentioning this program.

Thanks for any suggestions.

If you are running 32 bit that 64 bit lib will not work.
