Fedora Core 4 Mplayer flashes error message and doesn't start up.

Thanks for heling! Recently got Fedora Core 4 and installed on HP Pavilion ze4200. Used YUM to download and install Mplayer. I use GNOME and when i got to Application -> Sound and Video -> Movie Player to start mplayer, i get an error message that flashes in front of me for a split second and dissapears. Mplayer doesn't open up, nothing happens. Is there a way to tackle this issue?
Thanks

open a terminal such as xterm, konsole...and type mplayer and see what the results are. it will say what the errors are, and give you an idea of what needs fixing

typing mplayer in console just lists different functions that can be used together with mplayer command, like -vo etc... It does not say anthing about errors... could it be my video card driver, any ideas?

Sorry, the reason i posted that garbage above is that because i wanted to include a URL of a site that actuall DID resolve my issue. I feel it is an important asset to the Linux society to share resources. So, this site does not allow posting URLs until you have more then 5 posts. Well, now i have them and here is the URL that solved my problem:
http://www.mjmwired.net/resources/mplayer-fedora.html
