can not see fonts in Gnome, can not see fonts in GNOME...

I have RedHat Enterprise workstation 3 64-bit.

When I try to start it, I get an error like: "An error occurred while loading or saving configuration information for Evolution. Some of your configuration settings may not work properly." Meanwhile, I can still see some menus, folders and files. I can still see text in screen.
The error details are:

Failed to contact configuration server; some possible causes are that you need to enable TCP/IP networking for ORBit, or you have stale NFS locks due to a system crash. See http://www.gnome.org/projects/gconf/ for information. (Details - 1: IOR file '/root/.gconfd/lock/ior' not opened successfully, no gconfd located: No such file or directory 2: IOR file '/root/.gconfd/lock/ior' not opened successfully, no gconfd located: No such file or directory)

So, after that, I checked /root/.gconfd/lock/ior. There is indeed no suck a folder "lock". So I copied another folder "lock" with file "ior" inside.

Then I restart, this time I can not even see any text through whole screen...

I deleted "lock" with "ior" inside, reboot, still all menu are empty and I can not see any text but whole screen of error windows...

Please help. thanks a lot!

I have referred to following webpages, but seems not very my problem:
http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~help/unix_lin....html#gnomeafs
http://mail.gnome.org/archives/evolu.../msg00692.html
http://www.win.tue.nl/bcf/linux/usage/emptymenu.php

Please help me out, thanks ....
