Question Can i write Lilo scripts?

I'm dual booting XP and Slackware. I also use vmware to boot the entire raw disk into a virtual machine. The issue is that when I boot the virtual machine, it loads lilo with both xp and slack as a boot option. The problem is, loading windows into itself may present some interesting challanges. As, such i was wondering if it's possible to have lilo detect whether or not it's loded into the virtual machine or physical machine by detecting bios setteings or something. Basically can i write scripts for lilo?

you could edit /etc/lilo.conf to make linux the default os to boot,

and then run /sbin/lilo to make it read in your confi changes.
