Can I open an "executable" file for Ubuntu 11.0 while running Ubuntu 18.04?

I have an Avervision document camera that I want to hook up to my PC. I found and downloaded a program from the company website that is for Ubuntu 11. The company has discontinued linux support and does not have software for any version beyond that.

Can I open this file in Ubuntu 18.04? When I try to install it I get a message saying, "Could not display 'AverVision for Linux-1.1.0.1-Ubuntu11.04-x86-Install" And "There is no application installed for 'executable'files." Do you want to search for an application to open this file?"

And when I select"yes," there is no application available to install this program.

It is very unlikely this will work, but I wonder - how did you try to install it?

Where did you find that software? Link?
What exactly does this software do?
Are you sure the camera wouldn't Just Work, without the need for external drivers or some such? What device are we talking about? Link?

I got the software off the company website:

https://presentation.aver.com/model/AVerVision-1-Linux

I'm assuming it's the driver for my document camera, an Avervision CP355.

https://www.amazon.com/AVerVision-CP.../dp/B003ZTW2YK

I haven't been able to plug the camera into my PC yet because I need an rgb to usb adapter. I just ordered one which should be here Monday. So I don't know if Ubuntu will recognize the camera if I just plug it in.

Sorry, I fear I won't be of much help there.
It wouldn't be related to this:
