Boot screen

This may be a pretty dumb question and basically no problem at all, but how do I insert a picture (preferably animated) to replace the textual startup screen without learning kernel programming in Redhat 9? That is, I want to see some graphic instead of:

Starting A.................[OK]
Starting B.................[OK]
.........

Any ideas?

i havent done this myself but i know a bit about it:

unfortunatilly you will have to do some messing arround with the kernel. Bootsplash and Fraimbuffer support need to be compiled in, in order to get things working - after that its just a matter of googeling.... animated startups are a pritty popular hack
