BOOT FLOPPY slackware 8.0


HI. i have downloaded slackware 8.0, burned the iso image onto a cd-r. i have the neccesssary files for cd rom boot, but my intel computer will not cd-rom boot. okay, i need to make a boot floppy with rawrite.can someone till me what files to install in rawrite that will write a boot floppy. thanks ronss. i have linx red hat on one of my other computers, and the cd rom will boot with that machine.

First, go into your bios setup and look for an option to set the system to boot from cdrom before the hard drive. If your bios does not have that option then there are instructions on the slack CD to make a boot floppy under windows with rawrite.

thanks, i am going to upgrade the bios now, but i doubt that is the problem since i can load suse.i know about making cd rom 1 st boot, i have made all 3 boot options cdrom. i am just not sure what files to move to rawrite and load onto floppy. looks like bare1 is one. thanks ronss

If the machine boots from the suse cd but not from the slackware cd then there is something wrong with the slackware cd.

don,t understand why i can,t boot from the cd-rom, finally got bootdisk made and was able to get slacware install that way. my computer will not boot the mandrake 8.2 disk either, didn,t bother with that distro anymore, though i may tyr to install it later, thanks for the help
