Cannot Boot Linux - forgot to make boot floppy

I installed Red Hat 7. Yeah.. it's a bit old, but...

So, when it asked me whether to create a boot floppy I said no.

After the installation, the PC rebooted, and what do I see?

"Windows XP"

What should I do?

Did you install a boot loader when you installed linux? (Lilo or Grub). If you didn't, you're going to have to use your distro's rescue system (usually the first install disk) to load the system, then play around with it until you get the bootloader set up.

On the other hand, if you did, you might have set your bootloader to default to the windows installation. In "lilo's" case, hold shift down when your computer boots to get a list of OS's you can boot. I'm not sure with grub, but it's probably similar.

Well... 10x for the help, but meanwhile I reinstalled it and now I boot from a boot floppy.

... but now there is another problem.
1. It cannot find my USB mouse, and
2. I cannot log in any X mode... only text shit.

I'm thinking of getting Red Hat 9, cause this is apperantly old and sux a bit.

Does

startx

work after youve logged in in console mode?

(In general - Your right about Red Hat 9, I'd just get into that dsitro or maybe Mandrake 9.1 etc)

You can check out all the major Linux distributions and more at Distrowatch -
