I don't know why, but blender runs fine for a while, but then, seemingly at random, the screen blanks out and I'm back at my logon screen. My session isn't saved after this happens, so I'm guessing this is a crash.
I'm using PCLinuxOS, which is Mandriva based, with KDE 3.5.3 as my desktop enviroment. Blender is 2.42a.
Is there any way I can stop it from crashing? Becuase otherwise I really do like blender.

oh no... here are couple of suggestions.
1. Try running it from the command line by typing "blender" and see what sort of message you get when it crashes.
2. After it crashes, also look at /var/log/messages and see what is happening at the time of the crash.
Let me know what sort of messages you are getting and maybe I will be able to help. Also tell me more about your machine, graphics card, running x86_64 or not etc...
I can't check what the terminal says, because when X crashes, it takes down every window immediately, including konsole or yakuake or whatever I happen to be using as a terminal at the time. How could I check the output of a terminal after it's session ends? And I checked /var/log/messages, what should I be looking for? The only mention of the word 'blender' came from when I installed it.
I've been switching distros a lot lately, to see what I like the most. I've decided that PCLinuxOS isn't it, because I've been having a few problems with it. I'm settling down with ubuntu. Thanks anyway
