Big Problems with RH9

Hiya All,

I just installed Red Hat 9, and on first impressions, I was very happy with it. I had a look around the new KDE interface, and proceeded to set up the installation the way I like it, and I bumped into problems right from the start.

I typed 'kdesu konqueror' into a run command box, typed in the root password when prompted, then konqueror appeared, then disappeared

If I log into a terminal (xterm) as root, and type konqueror, it will appear, but in the terminal, it will print:
mcop warning: user defined signal handler found for SIG_PIPE, overriding

I am also having problems running gnomemeeting. Again, if i type 'gnomemeeting' in a run box, it appears, then disappears, in a terminal:
PMutex acquired whilst locked by another thread
Multiple segmentation faults occurred; can't display error dialog

Then it disappears again.

I get an error when running any program from a terminal, even if they open fine, such as gaim, the error is:
mcop warning: user defined signal handler found for SIG_PIPE, overriding

I used to get something mentioning the DCOP server when in RH 8, maybe this has something to do with it?

Please try and help me fix this problem, as I dont wanna go crawling back to RH 8, which I had no problems like this with it at all. I did a fresh install of RH 9, with everything.

Thankyou, I look forward to your replies

I had a similar problem in RH7.3, but instead of Konqueror appearing, then disappearing like it does on RH9, it just didnt appear at all

Is DCOP anything to do with sound? If yes, would installing the ALSA drivers for my card solve the problem (I would have tried by now, but alsa-project.org is down)

Thanx y'all
