bash: ./plain2snt.out: cannot execute binary file


When I take this ls -l. This is result of plain2snt.out

...
-rwxrwxr-x 1 user user 40536 Jun 6 2006 plain2snt.out
...

However, when I take plain2snt.out, this error
bash: ./plain2snt.out: cannot execute binary file

Please help me to solve this.

Please run
hexdump -bc plain2snt.out | head -10
and post output. Where did you get the file from, by the way? Maybe it really doesn't contain any executable program?

I had unzip it from GIZA toolkits, and after that I used "make" to install this toolkits

Hm, looks like at least it is intended to be executable.. Usually such a problem occurs when you try to execute a file that is neither ELF executable nor a script. Just in case, what does 'file' utility say about this file? I hope it says the same about /bin/sh (or whatever it points to if it is a symlink)? Does your compiler work fine on other programs?
