I manage a Gentoo 2.6 kernel server with a bunch of LVM2 logical volumes. We back up specific projects stored on the server with Veritas Backup Exec 8.5 on a Windows 2000 server.
Yeah, old. I know.
To expose the Gentoo server's files to Backup Exec, I installed the Backup Exec Remote Agent for UNIX and Linux, version 5.01 revision 5.046. This was working just fine until a couple days ago. Now, though, I can't browse into folders that are logical volumes through Backup Exec. For example, if I have two directories, /mnt/folder and /mnt/volume, both of them just sitting on the root partition and I have /mnt exported in agent.cfg, here's what I see:
A clue, perhaps, but I have no idea what to make of it: I've discovered that if I make a logical volume mount point the exported directory, I can see FILES within that directory, but not subfolders. So if I do this:
...I can't expand it to see any subfolders, but I do get a list of files right in that folder.
I've tried installing Backup Exec on other machines and I get the exact same result, so it must be something on the Gentoo server being difficult. It used to work, I swear!
EDIT: Oh, it's probably worth mentioning that the Backup Exec Agent installer doesn't have an option for either Gentoo or kernel version 2.6. I've always selected 2.4 and it's worked just fine in the past.

Reason: Added info on installer
