Question avview crashes

I'm not sure whether I have a hardware or a software problem, but I hope you can help me:

Under Suse 8.2 I tried to install my new ATI 8500 DV - Card. After a while I got the card working - but I still can't use the tv-tuner.

When I installed AVview from the Gatos-Project, everthing went good until the first start:

When I try to start it with avview.scp - nothing happens.
When I try to start ist wit start_avview, the program opens and shop a this text:

"It appears you have not open AVview 0.12.0 before.
Please go through all settings and adjust them as appropriate"

Now I can only push the OK - Button - and then AVview is cosing again....

How can I watch TV with this card and programm?
Is the 8500 working with other programs?

Tnanx a lot!!!
