Auto detect video card driver on Linux From Scratch

Hi,
I recently made a Linux From Scratch on my virtualbox. I notice that on my /etc/X11/xorg.conf my video card driver is listed as vesa.
But when I boot the live CD on my laptop, X doesn't start. I have to change the vesa to Intel and run
Code:
kdm start
and then it works fine
Is there any way, I can detect the video drivers before X starts and make necessary changes?

See "Beyond Linux® From Scratch ", Chapter 24. X Window System Environment, Introduction to Xorg Intel Driver.

That should answer your questions.

I already read that. There isn't anything that explains how I can automatically detect the card and change the "vesa" to "Intel"
