ATI 3.7.6 Drivers running perfectly

I am now running under ATI 3.7.6 drivers. Everything is running perfectly, and WineX runs flawlessly now (I just tried out Half-Life, which ran at 0.1 FPS on 3.7.0, now it's running at over 100 FPS). glxgears runs at ~ 2000 FPS, RTCW at ~ 60 FPS, and quake3 at ~ 70 FPS.

I went by these installation instructions by Erol, but instead of nvidia_agp I am using agpgart.

My specs:

ATI Radeon 9200
Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe (NForce2)
Slackware 9.1
Kernel 2.4.22
WineX 3.3-1

If you are having trouble with these drivers, ask here and I'll try to help you.

Hi!
I do have small problems on my computer with these drivers.

Here is my configuration:

Hardware:
Athlon XP 2200+
Asrock K7S8X
DDR-Ram 512Mo
ATI 9200se 128Mo

Software:
Mandrake 10. Community
The latest ATI drivers: ATI 3.7.6 that I downloaded& installed yesterday!

I followed the instructions of ATi to install those drivers... I forced the installation.
Before the installation, I had Tux Racer really smooth, as well as chromium but I could get
UT 2004 working with open GL (only hugly software rendering)

Yet Tux racer is very slow and chromium even more. UT 2004 doesn't lauch anymore with such a crash message:
"symbols missing - Aborting"

Do you have any idea of what I can do about this?

Thank you for your help!

Direct rendering OK, still missing symbols...

Hi!
I don't know if anyone reads me... but I found a solution for my problem.
In fact, I had no direct rendering activated with my ati drivers.
What I did is reinstalling the rpms packages I runlevel 3.

And then, when I started X again, Oh! Miracle! I had in Xconfig-4 "direct rendering: yes"

That could be a wonderful world if I could have my UT2004 runing...

PLEASE ANY IDEAS?!???

What dos "msymbols missing" means????

Thanks!

I also tryed the 3.7.6 ATi drivers and i was getting arround 50fps on glxgears, so i switched back to 3.7.0 which give me arround 2100fps on my Radeon 9500Pro.
Those who have a enormous drawback in performance with 3.7.6 should not upgrade with this (IMHO) horrible driver release.

The problem is solved guys!Don't panic ! Just follow ipso's guide here :

http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...323#post941323

This will make te game work BUT unfortunatelly in the middle of the game u may get amazingly corrupt graphics with the 3.7.6 drivers , as i did. I'll try the 3.9.0 drivers and post results. Good luck to us all!!
