apache problem

amazingly i have set up a apache server.. and it actually works, hard to believe i know.. except for one minor problem:

enter username and password for "linksys WRK54G V1.1 at http://*.*.*"

i get this when i try out my http server, im guessing its my router asking for identification...

any ideas how to get around this, i assume its nothing to do with apache anymore just my router not allowing http:80 access??

any ideas people?

update - i've worked out what i think i need to do, so if someone can check to see if this makes sense and just reply with yes, that would be great and i'll carry on.

my linux box is connected to a router, the router owns the main IP which is what my web server is based on, when someone trys to go to my website my router asks for identification

sooo if i tell the router to accept remote http connections on port 80, and to send them to look at the apache software i have on my linux box

it will work?

so my router needs to tell people looking on port 80 to look at the local IP of my linux box?

Yes, telling the router to forward port 80 to port 80 of your Linux box's local IP should work. It should also be possible to disable remote access to your router, which would be a good security measure unless you need to administrate your router over the web. I'm not sure exactly how to disable remote access, though.
