annoying vim behavior

Dear all

I recently recompiled vim under centos for x86_64. However, I am getting an annoying
behavior, every time that I pressed the ESC key more than once a 0 appears, also
every time that I save (:w) the "press Return to continue" message appears.
Do you know how to get rid of them??

Thanks!!!

Paulo
