Did you check first if ANBOX is in your repos?
It is always preferable to install the version in the REPOS first, even if you will then remove it an install from the dev site. That way you pull in dependencies and suggested packages. Often that pull enables optional features that may not work otherwise. (not always)
Of course, anything you install outside the package manager will no longer be properly tracked and managed by the package manager. If the repos version is adequate, that is generally the better option anyway.
Sorry, but isn't that, essentially, an Android question? Meaning, the solution is the same as it would be for a "normally" installed version of that Android image?
It's specific to anbox since all android devices support multiple keyboard layout. It's a "feature" of the image which is part of the anbox package.
And here I thought the keyboard was an APP and that the keyboard layout could be set in the app.
But then, I cannot get ANBOX to work in any useful way on my AARCH64 platform, so how would I know.
I take it that you looked for keyboard layout settings and did not find any?
What's the host's locale? What is your host machine's keyboard layout?
Maybe for some reason the developers of the Anbox .deb package bundled it with a Japanese-only-locale Android image?
Have you tried to solve the problem as if it was an Android problem?
What information did your searches on the topic reveal?
