An Enterprise Level PIM / Note Taking / Organization Tool

I've been searching for quite some time for a PIM / note taking / organization application in the likes of Treepad and (unfortunately), Microsoft's OneNote. I can't believe how much more productive these applications make you. However, after looking at quite a few open-source alternatives such as Kjots, jreepad, the VIM outliner, and treeline, I'm left wondering why there are no better alternatives (although I think treeline is the best of those mentioned above). Are there better alternatives that I'm unaware of? What do you use for your PIM / note taking / organization application? Has anyone successfully gotten any of the commercial offerings to run well under wine? Thank you for your time.

Tomboy is a nice app. It's very speedy and it's non-hierarchical, if you like that (I do, but your machine has to be fast enough to handle rapid searching).

A more traditional notetaking app is Tuxcards.

I believe there are quite a few tree-style outliners and notetakers. Have a look at http://www.linuxsoft.cz/en/.

The best I've found in the non-hierarchical category is Notelens, a .Net app that currently runs only on Windows. Tomboy approaches Notelens in usability and concept, but isn't quite there. However, Tomboy's free and Notelens isn't. I sometimes run Notelens under VMWare, though I'm using Tomboy more and more.

Sorry for not replying earlier. I've been away for a few months. I'll have another look at Tomboy although from what I've seen, I still think that it is still somewhat short on features when compared to something like Treepad. I've tried getting Treepad to run properly under wine but to no avail. Anyway, just out of curiousity, why did you choose Notelens over Treepad?
