1. What kind of professionaly made CD's ? Audio CD's? That depends on the format... but if it already has the codecs just go to Engage and select Play Audio CD (assuming you have a correctly configured fstab and can mount the CD, if you can't reffer your distro's documentation)
2. You need the right codecs to run mp3. Since AmaroK runs with the xine libs (amongst others) you should download the mp3 codecs of xine, the name of the package depends on your distro but I would recommend downloading all of the xine libs. (On some distro's like SuSE you need to download them from another server, because of license issues)
3. I don't really understand what you mean with this, maybe someone else can help you with this
