AmaroK playback problem with low bitrate files

Hi, I recently switched from XMMS to AmaroK, and it has been working ok, except for one problem. I have a few 96 kbps or lower mp3s, and when I play them in AmaroK, they have a regular, rhythmic hiccup sound, which I assume has to do with a failure to recognize the proper bitrate. Files with various higher bitrates all seem to play back fine. I am using the Gstreamer engine, but there don't seem to be any configuration options for Gstreamer available in any of the menus. Does anyone have any idea how to address this?

Thanks,
Laura

(Oh yeah, I'm also using Gentoo and ALSA, if it matters)
