Alternative Copy Handler for antix

I am using an Asus E202s. I am a newbie linux user. I have only a few weeks of experience in using Linux. Currently, I am running the latest version of antix on this machine. I choose this because it has a very low memory footprint as my laptop only has 2GB of ram and a dual-core CPU. I mainly use it for my typing-related work and torrenting large files.

My issue is as follows. Once the torrent is downloaded I want to copy it onto my hard drive to move it to my main CPU. However, the copy handler of antix doesn't make a lot of sense to me and I am at a loss at understanding it. It does not show any kind of copy process at all.

I tried to install Ultracopier using the instructions found below.
https://howtoinstall.co/en/ultracopier

But when I tried to run it I got an error. The error more or less says the replacement of copy handler is not allowed by file manager.

Is there any way for me to get a working GUI interface copy handler? I just want to see a progress bar fill up.

ps. sorry for the terrible photos.

OK, can't make heads or tails of it.
I assume there is a Linux computer used to download, an external hard drive where you want to copy the file for transferring it into another computer and there is an issue with this copy process. Furthermore, I assume the problem probably is this drive filesystem is mounted read-only and your user cannot write to it. Of course, these assumptions may be all incorrect.

Based on information you have provided so far nobody can help you. You certainly do not need to install any additional "handlers" to copy a file.

Frankly, I'm at loss here. I wouldn't know even how to start assisting someone so clueless. Maybe some other member with great teachers experience and skills can chime in and start this education process.

Open a terminal window, run mount | grep -E '\/sd|nvme' > mountlist.txt in it, and copy the resulting mountlist.txt file content here.

depending on where on your hard drive you want to copy the file you may have to do it as root instead of a normal user.

Am I right in assuming that you have downloaded the file on the laptop and now want to transfer it to another computer? If I'm not, then what exactly are you trying to do with the file? You certainly don't need any special program to move a file. And what do you mean by AntiX's "copy handler" — do you mean the file manager?

zzzfm uses traditional copy and paste. It also will mount usb drives like thunar.

It comes in AntiX full iso.

Rox file manager has always been drag and drop. Usb drives will show up in /media and can be mounted from there also.

Yes you are correct. I know I dont need to do anything else to copy. I am able to do that very well. I just wish if the copying process showed me a progress bar.

Try MC instead of the default file manager. It might already be installed. It and a workalike named "FC/L" are the only file managers I ever use (FC/W on Windows; FC/2 on OS/2; NC on DOS).

Ah! The real question is "How do I see how my copying is going?" One solution is to use the command line rather than the GUI. Two good methods are the commands rsync and pv: see the examples on this page:

zzzfm which is also in antiX does that. What is the problem in using that to tranfer files.
Here is mine showing usb connected

Here is the rox file manager manual

I highly recommend new antiX users use the help video in icewm menues. It is under Help>antiX-videos.
