A question on UDFtools

Hi folks,

Has any folk tried UDFtools-1.0.0b3 before. Would it be simiar to Direct CD on M$Window. In the past I have used Direct CD for a long time. Files can be read and saved on CD-RW with drop and drag method. It is very convenient for file storage bringing between home and office using the CD as mobile HD. Are they the same in function, only one being open source another commercial? Would it be also good on DVD? Please shed me some light. TIA

I've tried - very hard. I can show you the dent in the wall where I used to bang my head.

I have an unanswered question lurking somewhere on this site.

Can I suggest that if you do manage to get UDFtools to work you document how you did it. It seems that a lot of people have problems.

On Direct CD running on M$Windows, there is no problem. It is very easy to work. 3 years ago I tried UDF sys on Open Source but failed. Thereafter I stopped. I just came across this package.

Well yes, I use UDF a lot with Windows. However with Linux I have to gather the files I want and then write to CDRW in one operation, using k3b.

Sorry, no. That is not UDF system. It should be the same as Direct CD. I tried to build Linux UDF about 3 years ago but failed. It needs to recompile kernel to turn on packet writing. I just came across this small package. I wonder whether there is a big improvement on Linux UDF.

I am aware that it is not the UDF system. I have recompiled my kernel and generally followed all the instructions. With a singular lack of success
