Smile Unable to change time on server

Hi,

My Server running OS RHEL 5.4. It is showing wrong time so i change it using date +%T -s "23:45:13"
command. At execution time it is not showing any error. But after setting new time i check with DATE command and it is showing previous time.

Please suggest me what is wrong ?

Please reply ASAP.

Hi there,

Firstly, there is no need to put ASAP in your question. This is a community not Redhat support and you are not paying us. If you have such an urgency you better get in touch with Redhat to get this sorted.

Secondly, you didnt mention how your server is configured to get time whether via ntp or from hardware clock. If this is a virtual server then it is quite normal and a reboot will let it take time from host. If it is a physical machine then let us know how you have configured the server to get the time.

You can sync the time on your server with a public time server using ntpdate:
Code:
ntpdate -su 0.north-america.pool.ntp.org
RMI
