squeeze, xen & pe 2600

I am finally going virtual. The machine I am trying to set up xen on is a Dell Power Edge 2600 with 6GB ram and 2x dual core 2.8 xoen's.

I have successfully set up xen temporally hosting my services on a dell optiplex 160 using squeeze. All running well all be it a bit sluggish but what do you expect on an optiplex.

On the 2600 I have got squeeze set up and running fine until I try to install xen. Well the problem isnt installing xen but booting xen.

What happens is when the system is booting up it will either hang/freeze when starting up the xen daemons or within 5 minuets of doing so.

It is the exect same software setup as what is working on the optiplex.

If I boot to either the bigmem kernel or the plain xen kernel without xen daemons all is fine exept I cannot run any domU's

Any ideas?

Thanks

Berrance

EDIT:

Forgot to add I tried the dom0_mem=2 option in grub this didnt work either, didnt think it would as the system has less then 32GB ram, worth a try though.

Think I may have cracked it! its amazing what posting a problem on hear can do even without replies

any who the 2600 has 3 NIC's so in /etc/xen/xend-config.sxp I changed

(network-script network-bridge)

to

(network-script 'network-bridge netdev=eth0')

So far so good if I leave no more messages it will probably be working. If it does work for the next day or to I will try to remember to come back and mark it as solved
