smartd


Hi,
In my CentOS box smartd service is not running. can anybody let me know how to start this service.
i am trying to start with "service smartd start" cammand but it sayy failed

What type of hard drives are in the system?

Check out the smartmontools page for more information, especially the section on SCSI. I don't have any direct experience with smartd and SCSI disks.
