Setup DNS before install LDAP


Hello,

Is it necessary to setup DNS before install LDAP. My opinion is i have to setup DNS before LDAP. Am i right or wrong?

no, not at all. there is no link between the two at all, what did you think the requirement was? Having a good DNS setup is seldom a negative thing though, it's nice to have in place regardless.

You can set it up before or after. It would probably be easiest to setup first depending on the LDAP configuration your are going to use, and whether or not your DNS is going to be a segregated box or tied into your LDAP network. When I setup my LDAP network I first set it up with out DNS integration. I then later decided to add my DNS to my LDAP and it went pretty smooth.

It all comes down to your preference. You can go either way, as your do not need DNS setup to setup LDAP, and your don't need LDAP to setup DNS.
